Being the quintessential type A, competitive, work hard/play hard kind of person, I began slowly running my health into the ground during my work in the medical/social services field. 
I guzzled caffeine, ran in circles, thrived off intensity, and tossed back antibiotics any time I became ill.  While I always endured respiratory infections having followed the same patterns in college, when I started developing inexplicable and untreatable eczema, I grew desperate for help.

Before receiving acupuncture treatment, I was in bad shape all around but the main focus was lower back and MCL knee pain that had been ongoing for several years.
That was only the tip of the iceberg if I’m being fully honest as I was also experiencing insomnia, nightmares, constant agitation/easily angered, mentally relentless, fatigue, gout, anxiety and depression.
Three months before we moved to Hawaii, I took myself to a psych ward because I felt like I was losing control and making extremely risky decisions. I was diagnosed with several psychotic and bipolar disorders, along with major depression. I was then placed on Hydroxyzine, Bupropion, Cholecalcif, Methocarbamol, Risperidone, Olanzapine and Melatonin. From all this, I gained 50+ pounds in less than 3 months (normally 165, dropped down to 155 before hospitalization and got up to 205).
The meds increased my appetite through the roof and I blew up. I felt miserable as 90% of my clothes looked way too small and I hardly recognized myself. I kept taking the meds to ease the minds of those who loved and cared for me. It became difficult finding the joy of exercising that I had before and felt like a blob in that I woke up tired and would take constant naps. I genuinely felt that I had stopped living and was just existing as I had become numb to it all. I had barely turned 30.
For my knee (grade 2 MCL strain from football in 2014), I went through rehab therapy as well as for some of my mental health issues. I also had been prescribed other medications such as tramadol but that was mainly for my knee. 
After moving and getting settled in, I was asked what services I still needed to manage my knee and back. I was offered massage, chiropractic and acupuncture. I chose acupuncture because it was the only one that I had not attempted. Figured, “it can’t hurt to try” and went at it with an open mind for the most part. Although, it took me a while to disclose my mental/emotional state to Anjelika, I mean, that is A LOT of stuff to just unload on someone and didn’t know if anything could be done about it with acupuncture. Still kick myself in the rear about that but better late than never.

Acupuncture and herbal medicine has improved my life in many ways.
Anjelika has created a treatment plan to address my chronic pain, sleep disturbance, my emotional health, nutrition, and incorporated meditation and mindfulness principles that I utilize actively everyday.
After 6 months of acupuncture and herbs, I am almost entirely pain free, minimal back pain and no knee pain.
One change that made the biggest impact was how effective Acupuncture and herbs were in stabilizing my emotional heatlh. I am more balanced, less anxious, not depressed, I feel motivated and enthusiastic with my daily activities. Without hesitation, I can say that I have never been so clear and focused about what my life calling is. Nearly every morning now, I wake up at 4 am feeling rested to meditate which reaffirms my life’s purpose as I have tranquility and harmony that I have been searching for since my early years in life. This Marine will be earning his MBA in less than 3 months but has already started looking at acupuncture institutions to earn a Master’s degree and help other veterans.

Prior to beginning acupuncture, my health was in significant decline.  Making the transition from military to civilian life caused major trauma in my life, leading to depression, anxiety, weight gain, and subsequently, Type II Diabetes, and Hashimoto’s hypo-thyroid/auto-immune.  I also had chronic migraines, acid reflux, high cholesterol, digestive issues, severe fatigue, brain fog, mood swings, varicose veins, and physical pain in my hips (osteo-arthritis, bursitis), shoulders, and Iliotibial (IT) Band (Syndrome).  My hip pain was so bad that it hurt to walk (forget running, which previously was my main go-to exercise), and the IT band pain made it painful to drive or sit for long periods.  It even hurt to sleep (on either side).  I could no longer walk the ¼ mile in to work, I had to ride a shuttle.  I couldn’t engage with my kids in the type of physical activities and exercises that we wanted and needed to do.  I could feel my body telling me that I was going to be extremely sick in an irreversible way if I didn’t take some type of corrective action soon.
I was on pharmaceutical medications for all of these conditions for 5 years.  Over the years, I had physical therapy, chiropractic, mental health counseling, compression stockings, and have tried every fad diet, miracle “health” program, calorie counting, and intensive exercise programs. 
Within the first THREE WEEKS (6 sessions) of acupuncture therapy, I noticed a profound difference.  My physical pain was GONE, in my hips, shoulders, and IT band.  I no longer had to take the work shuttle, because I could walk without pain, so I began walking 30-120 minutes every day.  In just 3 weeks, my bloodwork also began to show marked improvement.  We started focusing on internal conditions, and over the next 6 months, my migraines disappeared, my digestive issues resolved, and I was able to discontinue all prescription medications. 
With Anjelika’s dietary and lifestyle changes, I lost over 40 pounds in 5 months (and still continue to lose).  Chinese herbs are helping my body’s systems do what they are designed to do.  Naturally.  Not only am I off all prescription medication, but my bloodwork PROVES that this is working. 

• My blood sugar is at NON-DIABETIC levels. 
• My cholesterol is down into a normal range. My triglycerides are down 158 points. 
• My thyroid is at an all-time low and normal level. 
• My mood has stabilized with no “hard to explain” emotional outbursts. 
• Where previously I had extreme fatigue and my legs were tired from one trip up the stairs, after my ¼ mile walk to work, I can now run up 3 flights of stairs without even being winded. 
• The varicose and spider veins in my legs have improved. 
• I started some meditations and my mind has calmed down.
• I feel lighter.  Not just physically 40 pounds lighter, but mentally and spiritually lighter, like a heavy burden has been lifted.

​When I first learned of acupuncture, I had extreme doubts about its healing effects. How can tiny needles placed randomly across the body heal? From a scientific perspective, in my opinion, it did not make any sense. When my Korean doctor recommended me to Anjelika, I only agreed to go because insurance was paying for it: “It can’t hurt me to go, and its free…, I suppose I’ll give it a try; I can always quit.”
After a hiking injury about 8 years ago, I had constant shoulder pain preventing me from holding my young daughters. Additionally, after being stationed in Hawaii for many years, I developed severe allergies to grass and trees that caused me to take several medications in high doses daily. I lamented the fact that as a late twenties male, I would never be able to lead a normal life, and that I was taking more pills daily than my 80-year-old grandfather.
Anjelika warned me in our first meeting that acupuncture would not fix me in one session, and that old and severe injuries like mine could take several months to resolve. After trying physical therapy with two different doctors, I had no hope that my shoulder would be fixed. However, within 8 weeks my shoulder was pain free and I had regained full use. I can finally hold my young daughters again!
After my shoulder was resolved, Anjelika switched her main focus to my allergies. Despite having no history of food allergies, she asked me to avoid certain foods like milk and dairy products. I silently laughed inside knowing that there was no way these foods were affecting me, and I ignored her advice for two months. I wound up taking a trip to the mainland and inadvertently avoided dairy for nearly two weeks due to my vacation plans in the mountains. Upon returning to Hawaii, for 3 days I had no allergic reactions until one evening when I made alfredo for the family. Within 30 minutes, I was coughing, choking on phlegm, and my wife said my snoring was some of the worst she had ever heard. Something clicked in my brain and at the following session, Anjelika reminded me that it was probably the dairy. She increased her efforts, and by finally following ALL of her advice, in tandem, we were able to get me entirely off my medications. Come to find out, I have a milk protein allergy that causes eczema, coughing, runny/clogged nose, and itchiness that was undiagnosed by three different allergist-doctors. Furthermore, the acupuncture helped reduce the effects my environmental allergies were having on my body until they no longer bothered me daily.
Without having given acupuncture a try, and without Anjelika’s hard work and wealth of knowledge and skill, I would never have been able to lead a normal life. In fact, after having moved permanently to the mainland and halting treatment, I am still entirely off my medicine thanks to her.
I am now an acupuncture believer, and I will be forever grateful for her dedication to my health.

I have been on so many different medications for about the last 25 years.   Every time I had a new ailment, I was prescribed another medication or two to address it.  I was up to 22 pills a day and just accepted it as something I would have to continue for the rest of my life.  I had given up hope on a long and healthy life.
Of course I had heard about acupuncture before but had no idea of how much healing could come from it.  It has been a medical miracle for me!  I have only been seeing Anjelika for less than a year but the healing has been incredible.  Through Anjelika and acupuncture, I have been healed of high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Prior to receiving acupuncture treatments, I was experiencing intense migraines typically three
weeks out of the month and lasting three to four days out of that week. The migraines I was
experiencing were so intense in pain that they would cause me to vomit and then they would
begin to subside. My initial treatment was a regiment of prescription medicines and various
injections that would sometimes remedy my migraine at the time but also cause me to fall asleep
but the longevity and overall damage that was being done to my body I'm sure it was far worse
than the temporary and partial relief I was getting from my migraine attacks.

When I began my acupuncture treatment with Anjelika, the process of healing was gradual but definitely noticeable. I was able to eventually come off of all of the prescription medication that I would have been taking. As of now I am 100% medication free and headache free. I have not had any debilitating migraines for over 6 months now.
​Acupuncture has also improved my emotional state because I am able to engage in many activities without a traumatic reaction to them. Like going to the gym and grocery shopping isn't an anxious chore anymore. Before acupuncture treatments, I would have social anxiety, and be easily angered by situations. For several years, I have been dealing with constant lower back pain and numbness in my left leg. I have consulted with other holistic health practitioners and experienced several methods of therapy (physical therapy, hydrotherapy, chiropractic, massage) to treat my injuries to no avail.

After 40 yrs as a corporate senior executive, I finally had the opportunity to retire at the end of January 2016.  Working in an environment of high demands and expectation, my overall health declined.  Typical to many executives, I drank 4-6 cups of coffee, consumed sweets to keep my attention span to a high level, missed breakfast, absorbing fast food while eating late at night.  Overall entering the age of the 60’s, I thought I was in decent shape. 
During each annual exam, my doctor stated the same thing: blood pressure is too high  (range 160’s) and recommended to begin taking high blood pressure medicine.  As much as I worked out, my weight ( obese stage) did not go down nor did my blood pressure.  During my examination in April 2016, my doctor shared a strong voice to me, “take the medication! You are a high risk of a heart attack”. 
In Dec 2015, a doctor diagnosed me with a  “trigger finger” injury.  He recommended to take the same non inflammatory medicine that I used for my gout and if no improvement in a few month, minor surgery will be recommended. 
My wife recommended Angelika, she was highly impressed with Angelika’s intelligence and how she managed her patients and a sense that Angelika would produce results. The pain in my finger was so intense it kept me from sleeping at night. 
Within a week, my progress improved by 50% and completely healed in a month.  While in treatment, I injured my achilles while walking at Makapuu Lighthouse. With Angelika’s treatments I became pain free in 2 weeks.
The most amazing challenge was to get my blood pressure from the high 160-170 to a normal level of 130’s.

Acupuncture surprised me. I'm not the "chi" or "zen" kind of guy so as cliche as this sounds I was skeptical. I trusted western medicine because that's all I've been around as far back as I can remember. A few home remedies here and there but that always ended in me just going to the hospital. Fast forward to recently, I was suffering from severe headaches. While deployed I encountered a traumatic brain injury when an indirect round landed on the living quarters I was sleeping in. For about three years I was receiving medicine from my doctor to treat my headaches. Treating them as in "here you go, take these meds when you have a headache". The meds worked for a bit but it was only a matter of time before my body became immune to it. The headaches came back and the meds increased. Before I knew it, I was taking two to three different meds for my headaches alone. I started acupuncture about 3 months ago. It has been amazing ever since. My headaches are completely gone. For a few weeks I was still in disbelief that my headaches were actually gone so I told Anjelika I no longer had them to see if they came back. Surprisingly they didn't. Acupuncture has also changed other difficulties I was having and I plan to use acupuncture for my future issues as well.

I was seven month's pregnant when I first visit with Anjelika, as I had been suffering from a feeling of a lump in my throat since 3 months pregnancy. I never did acupuncture before, but my Chinese middle school classmate who is a Chinese medicine doctor suggested me to do an acupuncture, and she said my symptom should be called " mei he qi" in Chinese medicine, and I searched Groupon for deals, then I found Anjelika. My husband and I went to the studio several times, although the place is small, but it's on the hills with nice view and quiet. My first acupuncture was really effective, and the throat obstruction immediately went away right after the 30 minutes acupuncture treatment, and also my shoulder pain disappeared. Thus, my husband drove me to continuously do the acupuncture three times after, and he also did the acupuncture with me for his problems too.
