Microneedling, Nanoneedling and Cosmetic Acupuncture

8/17/2015

What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is the insertion of very fine short needles into the skin for the purpose of rejuvenation. These very fine needles create tiny punctures in the skin to help stimulate collagen production, improve skin texture and reduce wrinkles, acne scars and hyperpigmentation. It is also knows as collagen induction therapy.
During a 30-minute procedure, needles will go to a depth of about .25 to 1.5mm depending on the patient's skin constitution.
This procedure is recommended once a month for 6-8 treatments and results will last 3-5 years.
Microneedling sessions includes medical grade plant-based stem cell infusions with a comprehensive body acupuncture treatment. A body acupuncture treatment is essential in promoting healthy function of the multi organ system that contributes to skin health.

Benefits of Microneedling
  • improved skin texture and tone: microneedling helps stimulate collagen production in the skin, which can help to improve the texture and tone of the skin. The procedure can also help to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles, resulting in a more youthful looking complexion.
  • reduced acne scars: the procedure can help to break down scar tissue and promote the growth of new collagen, which can help to fill in and smooth out the skin. This helps reduce the appearance of acne scars and other types of scarring.
  • brightened complexion: the production of new cells promoted by microneedling can lead to a brighter, more even complexion. This helps reduce the appearance of dark spots and hyperpigmentation.
  • enhanced product absorption: the tiny punctures created by microneedling can help to increase the absorption of topicals. The clinic uses medical grade plant-based stem cells topicals during the procedure.
  • increased collagen production: microneedling helps stimulate collagen production in the skin, which can improve skin elasticity, firmness, and hydration. This can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and improve skin texture, resulting in a more youthful looking complexion.

What is Nanoneedling?
Nanoneedling is a gentle yet highly effective skin rejuvenation technique that uses microscopic, hair-fine needles to lightly penetrate the very top layer of the skin, the epidermis. These ultra-thin needles glide across the surface, gently separating skin cells and creating micro-channels that allow active ingredients to be delivered more efficiently. Because the needles reach only the upper 0.15 mm of the skin, the treatment is safe, non-invasive, and ideal for more sensitive skin types.
Benefits of Nanoneedling
The advantages of this treatment extend far beyond simple exfoliation.
Nanoneedling can:

• Reduce pigmentation and uneven tone, allowing skin to appear brighter and more luminous.
• Increase skin cell turnover, supporting a fresher, clearer complexion.
• Enhance absorption of serums and corrective ingredients, making each product more effective.
• Stimulate natural rejuvenation, improving texture, smoothness, and overall radiance.
• Deliver immediate visible results, including a plumper, more hydrated appearance.
• Require no downtime, making it a perfect lunchtime treatment.

This 30-minute session can be performed weekly as a gentle exfoliating and revitalizing treatment. It is especially beneficial for individuals who want a softer approach to skin renewal without the intensity of deeper microneedling procedures.

What is Cosmetic Acupuncture?

Cosmetic acupuncture is a minimally invasive procedure that reduces fine lines and wrinkles, improves facial elasticity, and tightens and brightens the complexion. Cosmetic acupuncture treatments address specific facial concerns, while nourishing the body from the inside out and correcting internal imbalances to restore vitality. The goal of cosmetic acupuncture is to tone the skin of the face and neck to attain a more youthful appearance. The insertion of acupuncture needles stimulate the lymphatic and circulatory systems, which both work together to deliver nutrients and oxygen to the skin cells, nourishing the skin from the inside out. Cosmetic acupuncture also works by increasing blood flow and stimulating the facial muscles to improve their tone and conditioning. Once needles are inserted, a microtrauma is created, which stimulates the natural production of collagen and elastin within the body. The increase in collagen production improves the skin’s elasticity, which helps smooth out fine wrinkles and lines. In addition to the local facial needling, body acupuncture points are included in the session to nourish the entire body and treat the "root" cause of facial and aesthetic concerns.
The most common result reported from facial acupuncture is a brighter, plumper, more “lifted” complexion. Other patient-reported benefits include reduced fine lines and wrinkles, even skin tone, tighter and toned facial muscles, as well as looking up to ten years younger and feeling more confident in their own skin.
A treatment protocol involves initial sessions 2x a week for 12 treatments followed by once-a-month maintenance.
